Holidays rentals in the south French Alps

I’m proposing an appartement to rent for 6 to 8 people, directly from the owner, in the village of Ceillac – South French Alps. Ceillac is a typical, calm and quiet mountain village, with only 300 inhabitants, located in the Queyras Natural Park (natural reserve) at 1650 m. The house itself is situated at the foot of the mountain, with many hiking tracks directly accessibles in the valley.

Ceillac : a ski station and hiking place

Ceillac is indeed well known for its skiing and hiking opportunities.

In the winter, you can join the ski area in 5 minutes by taking the shuttle bus just at the corner of the street. In the summer, enjoy the many hiking trails, several of them starting within 100 meters from the house. The village offers many other outdoor activities such as paragliding and biking.

The Queyras Natural Park

The Queyras Natural Park is a remarquable territory which benefits from a high sunlight thanks to its southern climate. Many mountain species can be observed: Alpine ibex, chamois, groundhog, bearded vulture, black grouse, rock ptarmigan, golden eagle, Isabelle butterfly… Junipers, larches and cembro pine-trees are found along the hiking trails

Moreover, wood is the main building and local craft material. Many crosses decorated with carved wooden objects can be found in the villages, along with typical alpine sundials. Saint-Véran, the famous highest european village, is located in a nearby valley.

The village’s stores

Once on site, no need to use a car: the village offers restaurants, a cheese dairy,  a grocery store, two bakeries, a tourist office and an unmistakable artisanal ice cream maker…

How to get there ?

By train: Montdauphin – Guillestre station is located at 12 miles from Ceillac. A shuttle makes a link between the station and the village several times a days. You can book online at « 05 voyageurs ». Other shuttles allow you to visit all of Queyras valley or other villages without needing a car.

By car: 4 hours drive from Lyon and Nice. 3 hours drive from Grenoble or Marseille.
